Meeting with Ralf &Gerlinde, ISPO Winter 2012

Like in all sports, alpinism has its stars; UIAA guide Ralf Dujmovits and Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner are the elite of them. Equipped by Valandre since his start in 89, Ralf has finished his last 14 8000 by summiting Lhotse in 2009. Hence he has become the first German to complete the 8000. Last summer his wonderful and charming “little” wife Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, broke the taboo of the Savage mountain, by shooting straight up the North side to the summit of K2, in snow up to her hips, via the North pillar (Japanese route) in pure alpine style and without bottled oxygen, on her final 8000 (Did you get it!). This exceptional performance on the second highest mountain on earth, also known as the Mountain of mountains, is in all aspects exceptional. We sat down with Ralf and Gerlinde at the ISPO winter 2012, and talked about it………
