3 Season Use - Serious Trekking - Randonee

The SWING 700, like the  500 and the 900, is a  realistic bag for beginners, where the price question becomes a part of the equation. But only a part, as the main issues are: durability quality and safety.

Gear snobs will be desapointed now! Ducks are a palmede animal and like geese they migrate twice a year, and they even float on water (Yes Sir...they don't sink!). Unfortunatly, duck down has the reputation of being a second degree quality, next to the goose.

......would you please stop staring at me now......thanks!

Now if you need a sleeping bag, to sleep in and keep you warm, the famous Pyreneean duck 90/10 will do a better job than any standart 90/10 industrial goose on the market, at a lower price.

The key question about isolation quality is not in the race, but in the method of racing, and specially in the question of maturity of the animal, exactly as it is with the French Gray goose. (see down page)

The Pyreneean duck, is raised outside in a free enviromment, the animals have acess to water, and they are raised into their ultimate maturity as a adult amimal, capable to follow the flock on a rough migration trip.  And as the French raise quite alot of ducks in the Pyrenees, there are a large quantity of mature duck down on the market, and following the offer/demand equation.........you get mature down at a cheap price.

The shell construction follows the same philosophy as the down selection, so we selected a Asahi-KASEI acrylic rip stop (42g/m²) for the outside and a Polyamide rip stop (35g/m²) for the inside. Both fabrics are 100% produced in Japan. Not the creme of Japanese fabric technology, but the best offer taken price into consideration from Osaka. A solid fabric you can trust.

The construction is a tuck stiched continous baffel construction. The tuck stich, fixes the baffels to the outside and inside shell, by stitching though two layers of fabric, witch is a extremely solid and durable stitch.....So, no problem on this side eather.

The Swing offers a well shaped hood that, together with a efficiant draft collar, offers a effective cloasing, minimizeing heat loss in low temperatures, yet at the same time allows the bag to offer a great ventilation posibility in higher temperatures. And the raised foot box offers a maximum protection for the feet with a nice feel of...comfort.

To squeese prices and weight, you simply down size the bag, and quite often they get so tight, that once in the bag, the size of your body compresses the down membrane......

The Swing 700, being a true 3 season bag signed by Valandré, takes a different volume direction. Basically you face a bag of "quite some volume". This "sur volume", offers sleep comfort, but foremost the possibility to layer seriously up using all your clothes, without compressing the down membrane, if unexpected temperatures suddenly hammers down......

Elisabeth Revol - France -(C2) 6000m Annapurna south face 09.

But the real beauty of the SWINGS are a super well ballance between the sur volume on the body section and the sur volume on the leg section. You have the double comfort of of a large general volume, with the same feeling of over space on the body and leg section.

So, in a SWING, you can let loose, and go to sleep with out worries....

And so what?....it's duck!......does this realy bother you now?
