Threads
Our thread is a mix of nylon and cotton. You might think pure nylon gives the greatest strength, but adding just the right amount of cotton secures that stitch holes are "closed" properly by the thread.

The length of stitches is determined by our desire to make the stitches firm, flexible and durable. Increasing the length of the individual stitches would make things easier and cheaper for us, but that’s not the way we play.

As a detail the color of the thread always follows the color of the fabric. It's just one of those things – it just needs to be right. If you have a storm flap in two different colors the thread will still match the colors perfectly.

Zippers
We use only YKK zippers throughout our entire program. The reason for this is simple: YKK simply makes the best zippers available in terms of quality and craftsmanship.

In our sleeping bag range we use a large size zipper, which is easily operated. By using a reinforced fabric alongside the zippers, you should have no problems with fabric getting stuck in the zipper. Every zipper is of course, protected by a down-filled flap on the inside and a protective flap on the outside.

All Valandré sleeping bags have optional left/right zipper. The lengths of the zippers are always the same, no matter the size of the model. So if you feel like socializing, you can easily zip a Thor expedition bag to a Classic 500. Yes, we know – neat.

Drawcords
Our drawcords are semi-elastic rather than completely elastic. It takes more skill to produce semi-elastic drawcords, which makes it more expensive: a 1:3 relationship compared to elastic. The elasticity makes it flexible; the static element ensures that you can tie it up properly. Fixed but still flexible.

All hoods use a static drawcord so that it stays put once you're tucked in for the night.

Reinforcements
Some reinforcements you can see. Some you can feel. Some you just have to know are there. Either way, you can make sure that we reinforce every stress point throughout our line of products, be it in regard to zippers, Velcro strips or drawcords.

The typical reinforcement is a cordura/nylon blend, an extra layer of fabric, and extra stitch work.

Valandré products are made to withstand the use and abuse that comes along with extreme conditions. You won’t have to worry about product failure when ripping Velcro, using zippers or pulling a drawcord.
